Healthy Is Worth It

Ok my cyber/blogger friends, this Sunday I turn 34... yes I said my age lol.  For a while I’ve been bragging and telling my husband how I want to lose weight, or how I want to be healthier and exercise more, blah, blah and blah.  Because all I did was talk but no action.  Well yes there was action of me eating whatever I could.

So I have decided that now that I will be 34 I need a huge change in my life regarding health.  See this is MY STORY:  When I was 15 I got my first period and after that I’ve been and still am irregular.  Therefore I have always suffered from chronic anemia.  When I turned 20 I started to smoke cigarettes and I quit at 22.  Then at the age of 27 after a rough divorce from my first marriage I began to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol.  Lord knows I do not blame anybody for these decisions but myself.  When I turned 30 I decided to quit smoking and drinking (I’m not going to lie I have my glass of wine occasionally) When I remarried in 2012 and moved to NC, I was all into making my husband a happy husband by cooking him these delicious (fattening) meals; but within time we both gained weight and we weren’t even exercising as much as we were suppose too.

Well something happened!!! I had a reality check and woke up from that fantasy island I was at.  I realized that I’m not a teen anymore, my metabolism is slow, and I need to get up from my booty and do something about it.  So I decided to make a change.  A change for me and my husband; we are now eating clean.

There is a saying that we are what we eat.  I would have been a hamburger/pizza/pasta all in one lol.  I made a choice for my family; I want to put in my body healthy foods.  I want a healthy lifestyle, and I want to prepare my body for my miracle baby that I know God will grant me soon.

This post is not for you to judge on my past but to inspire others in starting a healthy lifestyle. On January 13, 2014 I took a picture of weight, front body, side body and back body (I will not post today I’m too embarrassed lol) But to give you a hint on where I am my height is 5 feet 5 inches and I’m my weight is 147.4 and I feel super uncomfortable in my own skin right now.  My goal is to be at least 125-130 lbs.

What I will be doing is mainly cutting on all the sugars, sodas, carbohydrates, red meats.  I can’t stick to one specific diet or healthy nutrition like Paleo, Vegetarian, Etc.  So we are doing a little of everything. I will be blogging recipes, exercises, pictures of my progress and other healthy topics in different blogs.

Wish Me Luck!!!

Project Life - Week 2

Week 2 - January 6, 2014 - January 12, 2014

This past week was my last week in Puerto Rico.  Like I said on my last Project Life Post our flight got cancelled and we had the blessing to spend one more week with our family. We got the opportunity to stay at home and watch movies, we went to El Morro (details will be posted later on in another post; we also had to say good bye to my parents.  This was the hardest part; I hate goodbyes especially when it involves my parents.  I’m the biggest cry baby ever known.  We also finally reunited with our fur baby Knela.  She was so excited to see us and I have to admit she slept by my side lol.  I have to give a special thanks to my cousin Jossie, she took great care of her.

Well I hope you enjoy my short post.  I will be downloading, editing and posting our vacations pictures soon.

Three Kings Day

Happy Three Kings Day!!!

On January 6th Three Kings Day is celebrated throughout Latin America, Spain, and in Hispanic communities of the United States. Therefore, I'm celebrating it here in Puerto Rico.  Three Kings Day is the Epiphany of the church calendar, the 12th day after Christmas, when the Magi arrived bearing gifts for baby Jesus.  Children receive gifts on this day, brought by the three kings, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar. In Latin America, January 6th, and not necessarily Christmas, is the day that children receive their gifts.

In the days preceding Three Kings Day, children write letters to the Magi requesting a toy or gift that they would like. On the night of January 5th, the figures of the Wise Men are placed in the nativity scene. Children would traditionally leave out a shoe box with a bit of hay in them to feed the animals of the Magi (they are often shown with a camel.) When the children wake up in the morning, their gifts will have appeared in the place of the hay. Nowadays, like Santa Clause, the Kings tend to place their gifts under the Christmas tree instead of in a shoe.

In the United States, the tradition of the Three Kings Day has carried on. Hispanic bakeries throughout the country typically sell hundreds of Roscas de Reyes during the day, and children patiently wait for their second gift of the holiday season.

Project Life - Week 1

Happy New Year 2014 my lovely readers.  I hope all of you had a blast, I know I did.  I know I have been MIA, long story short I was on vacations with my family in Puerto Rico (pictures to come soon) and I'm still in Puerto Rico because mother nature decided to cancel my flight, so I'll be here til this Friday, January 10th.

This year I decided to do a digital Project Life instead of printing out and creating an album.  Printed photograph fade within time and I want to remember everything when time passes by.  So what better place than my blog.

Project Life consists in posting pictures of what you did weekly.

So, who ever wants to join me let me know I would love to see yours.
